How to
create custom t-shirts with your new
heat transfer machine
Be sure to choose a shirt or garment that has a tight weave. This is particularly
important when transferring to sweatshirts. Best wash ability is
achieved when using a tight weave 50/50 T-shirt. When using 100% cotton
T-shirts, be sure the label reads "Pre-Shrunk".
For best results, it is important to transfer your image at the correct
TIME, TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE.
Preheat the heat press so that the platen is hot before transferring
your first image. Cut away any unprinted paper around your image that
you do not want to transfer. Place the garment onto the press pad and
prepress for 1-2 seconds to remove any wrinkles and excess moisture.
Place the transfer on top of garment with the image side down and press
at:
Manual Heat Presses: 400° F for 15-20 seconds, use HEAVY PRESSURE.
T-shirts: Wait 3-5 seconds before peeling transfer, peel in a left to
right motion.
Sweatshirts: Wait 5-10 seconds before peeling transfer.
Important note: Heat presses vary in accuracy. Conduct your own tests to
determine the best time and temperature to use with your own equipment.
Best results are achieved with air-powered presses.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn your garment inside out. This will minimize the amount of
abrasion that the transfer will encounter with other garments in the
wash.
2. Wash the garment in cold water using a mild detergent.
3. DO NOT USE BLEACH.
4. Remove the garment from the wash immediately and allow to air dry. If
you are going to tumble dry, use the air only setting. By doing this
over the life of the garment, you will be ensuring that your image stays
clear and bright.
5. If your garment needs to be ironed, do not iron directly on the
transferred area. Use a TeflonŽ sheet or baking parchment to cover the
transfer before ironing.
Note: After washing, colors may fade slightly, particularly on 100%
cotton. To restore the colors to their original brightness, place a
sheet of regular white paper over the image and iron at low cotton
setting.
